My obsession after watching the Vox Machina series brought me here and I’m not disappointed! This was such a good origin story! I wonder if and how it will be incorporated in the show at some point。 Recommend as fun reading even if you know nothing about the animated series。

I am not normally a graphic novel reader, but this was a beautiful book and very enjoyable to read。

If you’re a D&D or Critical roll fan this is a must read! Loved seeing how the group got together。

This is what a D&D movie should be。 Adventure? Check。 Humor? Check。 Bad choices? Check。 Success over long odds? Sometimes。 Good art, fun dialog, entertaining plot, and characters you like and can relate to。 All based in Dungeon and Dragons setting。

Pretty good for a starting series。 Apparently the is a part 3 comes out in July, so looking forward to that。 Not sure what the tv series will cover but we shall see。 I will say I liked part 2 more than part 1 but part 1 was a good starting pointing of everyone coming together。Also first completed book for 2022, let's go 😁 Pretty good for a starting series。 Apparently the is a part 3 comes out in July, so looking forward to that。 Not sure what the tv series will cover but we shall see。 I will say I liked part 2 more than part 1 but part 1 was a good starting pointing of everyone coming together。Also first completed book for 2022, let's go 😁 。。。more

Loved the art! Really brought these characters to life:) I love the critical team and what they do, but struggle to listen to 3+ hour episodes。 Love to read/see these stories in a comic format。

If you are a fan of Critical Role I would say this is a must-read。 If you are a player of the D&D this is a fun read and a recommendation。 If you are just looking for a fun fantasy world graphic novel this is still a great read。 No matter why you are reading this book it's a nice little story of a bunch of misfits fighting monsters and solving mysteries! I've watched a few hours of the Vox Machina campaign, enough to get a sense of the characters and world, but it's just so long that I know I'll never finish it。 Happily, this comic exists, so I can still enjoy Critical Role content without having to watch hundreds and hundreds of hours of videos。 I had a lot of fun reading this: the art was pretty good, the characters are enjoyable (I am not immune to Vex, Vax, or Percy…) and it was fun to watch the team come together。 I think I did enjoyed Seri I've watched a few hours of the Vox Machina campaign, enough to get a sense of the characters and world, but it's just so long that I know I'll never finish it。 Happily, this comic exists, so I can still enjoy Critical Role content without having to watch hundreds and hundreds of hours of videos。 I had a lot of fun reading this: the art was pretty good, the characters are enjoyable (I am not immune to Vex, Vax, or Percy…) and it was fun to watch the team come together。 I think I did enjoyed Series II somewhat more just because the whole team was together and having adventures, but overall it was a very satisfying read for my dnd nerd self。 Maybe someday I'll even try to finish the campaign。 (Okay, fine, not likely)。 。。。more

Loved it from start to finish。 I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of graphic novels!

This was decent。 It gets a lot better in the second half when they change writers and get someone else handling colors。 I've never consumed any other Critical Role media, so I didn't enter this already invested in the characters。 It's about what you would expect from a comic adaptation of an actual D&D campaign。 There are some jarring tone shifts and jokes that would be funnier as improv at a gaming table than they are in written storytelling。 This was decent。 It gets a lot better in the second half when they change writers and get someone else handling colors。 I've never consumed any other Critical Role media, so I didn't enter this already invested in the characters。 It's about what you would expect from a comic adaptation of an actual D&D campaign。 There are some jarring tone shifts and jokes that would be funnier as improv at a gaming table than they are in written storytelling。 。。。more

Very good and a great BIG book size and pages for a graphic novel。

Middle school appropriate。 For those of us who enjoyed the show, it is great to see the humble beginnings of our favorite characters and how they all met。 For those unfamiliar with the show, it’s a great introduction to a vibrant story。 The book itself is a hefty one with pages and pages of rich comic illustrations。 The thing weighs more than some of dictionaries。 Gorgeous and entertaining。 Some mild swearing and typical medieval-fantasy comic book violence。

I am not a Critical Role fan, because I know that if I listen to or watch a single episode I'll probably be pulled in for the whole series and I just don't have that kind of time。 But I enjoyed these comics on their own merit, and anyone who likes fantasy adventure probably will too。 I am not a Critical Role fan, because I know that if I listen to or watch a single episode I'll probably be pulled in for the whole series and I just don't have that kind of time。 But I enjoyed these comics on their own merit, and anyone who likes fantasy adventure probably will too。 。。。more

I liked this a lot! Even as someone who hasn’t watched the Vox Machina campaign, this is a fun read。 My only real hangup is how white the ensemble cast is。。。it feels weird to look at a bustling tavern scene and realize literally everyone in it is (/appears) white。

Series I。 A strong getting-the-band-together story, with the best being the first few issues, where the stories of the heroes slowly intersect with each other。 From there, it's a bit more of a standard fight against evil。 The characters are great, with strong details, particularly among the three(!) half-elves。 There's also a lot of good humor。 Matt Mercer does a great job of creating a strong comic, whether you know anything about Critical Role or not [4+/5]。Series II。 A fair fantasy adventure, Series I。 A strong getting-the-band-together story, with the best being the first few issues, where the stories of the heroes slowly intersect with each other。 From there, it's a bit more of a standard fight against evil。 The characters are great, with strong details, particularly among the three(!) half-elves。 There's also a lot of good humor。 Matt Mercer does a great job of creating a strong comic, whether you know anything about Critical Role or not [4+/5]。Series II。 A fair fantasy adventure, but without the clever writing and interconnections of Volume I。 As a result we get a fairly pair of fetch quests that reveal a little bit extra about one of our core characters, but otherwise doesn't distinguish itself from any other RPG-based fantasy comic out there [3/5]。 。。。more

I have been following Critical role for about two years now。 I started watching at campaign two and have yet to go and fully watch campaign one。 This was a really great origin for the characters。 I absolutely love all of them and I can't wait to see more comics and more D&D from them。 I have been following Critical role for about two years now。 I started watching at campaign two and have yet to go and fully watch campaign one。 This was a really great origin for the characters。 I absolutely love all of them and I can't wait to see more comics and more D&D from them。 。。。more

I don't read graphic novels very often - I find I power through them so fast that I don't take time to appreciate the artistry involved but this was beautifully drawn and a fun paced adventure。 There's nothing you haven't seen before in fantasy but you wouldn't have to have watched Critical Role to get stuck in, which I liked。 I don't read graphic novels very often - I find I power through them so fast that I don't take time to appreciate the artistry involved but this was beautifully drawn and a fun paced adventure。 There's nothing you haven't seen before in fantasy but you wouldn't have to have watched Critical Role to get stuck in, which I liked。 。。。more

Over the past few years, Critical Role has really become such an important part of my life。 I love the world Matt Merced and the rest of the team have created and I’m so happy the Critters get to be a part of it。

My expectations were high with all the hype behind Critical Role。 And I have to say it fell a bit short of that: it wasn’t amazing but it didn’t suck either。 The art was great and I love the look of the characters。 Part of the issue is that it’s an adoption of a live DND session or multiple sessions rather。 Which makes adapting into a graphic travel a bit difficult so kudos to the authors for that。 That being said I kept wanting them to focus mainly on one character which of course is difficult My expectations were high with all the hype behind Critical Role。 And I have to say it fell a bit short of that: it wasn’t amazing but it didn’t suck either。 The art was great and I love the look of the characters。 Part of the issue is that it’s an adoption of a live DND session or multiple sessions rather。 Which makes adapting into a graphic travel a bit difficult so kudos to the authors for that。 That being said I kept wanting them to focus mainly on one character which of course is difficult to do。 For me the stand up character was Keyleth, I love her apprehension and yet positive attitude。 。。。more
